Kathmandu and Pokhara Exploration

Planning a trip to Nepal? You can’t miss out on the major destinations; Kathmandu and Pokhara. Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal and a fascinating city to explore with a rich history and culture. You will be mesmerised by the towering temples, majestic stupas, and historically important Durbar Squares listed in the World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu, such as Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Also, a little bit on the outskirts of the city, Chandragiri Hills, offers a panoramic view of the Kathmandu valley, and you will also get blessings from the sacred temple at the top. Apart from the sightseeing, you can explore a maze of narrow streets in Thamel, lined with colourful shops selling everything from handcrafted souvenirs to prayer wheels.

Pokhara, on the other hand, is a scenic city at the foothills of the Annapurna Mountain Range. You will visit the religious sites seamlessly blending with the natural beauties of the city, such as Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, Bindhyabasini Temple, Taal Barahi Temple, Phewa Lake, and Sarangkot. In addition to the sightseeing attractions, Pokhara offers a plethora of adventure activities, such as paragliding, ultralight flights, and zip flyer allowing you to experience the Himalayas from a whole new perspective. This journey to Nepal, encompassing the exploration of Kathmandu and Pokhara, is an opportunity to discover the blend of cultural richness with the awe inspiring natural beauty of Nepal.

Scenic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara

A flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara is truly an unforgettable experience if the weather is clear. The 30-minute flight takes you soaring over the Himalayan foothills. Gaze out the window, and you will witness the majestic Himalayas unfold beneath you. You will spot iconic peaks like Everest, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri, their snow capped summits piercing the clear blue sky. As you approach Pokhara, the flight typically takes you close to the Annapurna mountain range. This allows you to enjoy stunning close-up views of peaks like Annapurna I, Annapurna II, and Macchapucchre. This aerial journey is more than just a way to get from Kathmandu to Pokhara; it's a front-row seat to a masterpiece sculpted by nature. It showcases Nepal’s natural beauty from a unique aerial perspective. While descending towards Pokhara, the glistening Phewa Lake reflects the snow capped peaks, creating a mirrored image of this paradise. Above all, it is time saving compared to the drive, letting you fully experience the wonders of Pokhara even within this short time.

Sarangkot Hill Station

High in Nepal’s embrace, amidst the Himalayas, lies Sarangkot. This serene hill station isn’t just any viewpoint. It's a throne for witnessing the earth’s grand awakening. The viewing platform is a shared space filled with curious faces looking at the eye-catching view. Be prepared for an early morning wake up call on the 4th day. Sunrise times vary depending on the season, but expect to start your journey well before dawn. As the darkness fades, you’ll be part of the sky transforming with a mix of different colours. The snow capped peaks will gradually come into view, catching the first rays of sunlight. You will witness the majestic Annapurna range bathed in the golden hues of the rising sun. The iconic Mount Machhapuchhre will likely steal the show with its dramatic silhouette. This whole experience of the Sarangkot sunrise is not merely a visual spectacle but immersing yourself in the serenity and majesty of nature, fostering a deep connection with the Himalayas, and leaving an indelible mark of awe and appreciation towards the beauty of Pokhara.

Adventure Activities in Pokhara

With an array of thrilling adventure activities, find your match in the adrenaline fueled journey through the stunning landscapes of Pokhara, also known as the adventure hub of Nepal. Nepal is a haven for adventure junkies, offering a range of adventure options, especially in Pokhara. You can choose to participate in different adventure activities such as paragliding, ultralight flights, and zip flyer in Pokhara. It is an optional activity; however, you will get enough time if you’re interested in participating in:

Paragliding

It is a popular adventure activity in Pokhara. The time duration is about 30 minutes, which takes you to the maximum elevation of about 1592 metres. Pokhara offers some of the most iconic Himalaya views in the world, including the majestic Machhapuchre and the Annapurna range. From your paragliding vantage point, you’ll witness these giants standing proud and tall along with the Pokhara valley view.

Ultralight Flight

Ultralight flight is another aerial activity to do in Pokhara. It can be done in 15-90 minutes, according to your interest. Unlike paragliding, ultralight flights offer a more enclosed cockpit experience, providing a sense of safety while still offering stunning, even closer, panoramic views of the snow capped peaks.

Zip flyer

The Zip flyer in Pokhara, located exactly at Sarangkot, is considered the longest, steepest, and fastest zipline in the world, with a total length of 1850 metres and a vertical drop of over 600 metres. It is an exhilarating experience that starts at an elevation of 1650 metres and descends to 960 metres. Zipping at a speed of 100km/h you will be overwhelmed by the stunning views of the Annapurna range, Mount Machhapuchhre, and the Seti River.

Note: The above mentioned adventure activities are optional, which means one needs to pay separately for the activities done.

With its panoramic views of the Himalayas, Pokhara creates unforgettable moments for travellers seeking adventure, from the heights of paragliding to the speed of the zipflyer.
